Even my kids couldn't stomach it
For a long time we always just drove past the nearly always full parking lot. One evening we went in to see what was drawing the crowds. My wife and I and our three kids (teen and pre-teen girls) found what we wanted from their extensive menu and I ordered the onion bloom for a pre-meal treat. I found the onion bloom inedible. It was like a semi-cooked onion inside of an over-spiced batter. I figured that was the strategy for selling more drinks and didn't think more of it until my kids stopped eating it too. They were being polite by not saying anything but when asked they agreed - it was no good. I asked the waitress if we had gotten a bad batch and after taking a taste she confirmed that's the way it's made to taste. Meh.

The meals came and I fortunately ordered a hamburger because all the other meals that required sauce or seasoning were just as inedible.

We chalked it up to just bad luck and came back a month or two later only to discover that if they are anything, they are consistent. It was all inedible yet again. For Christmas we received a $25 Applebee's gift card. Any takers?
